Hello, BonJour, Sanibonani
Welcome to our blog! if it is your first time here hope you can navigate your way around easily enough.
So today’s blog is a review on…. The Body Shop! Well, makeup from the body shop.
So my girls bought a matte lipstick from the Body Shop and it looked so good on them.
I am not a lipstick person, I hardly EVER wear lipstick. I can name the few times I wear lipstick or any lip color on one hand.
- Weddings
- Sometimes when I go out with the girls
Normally when I do put some on, I never retouch *hides face*. It’s so embarrassing, so it fades and that’s me done!
I am a Zambuc, Lipsano, or Carmex type of girl. Very specific because a lot of things don’t work on me.
- Vaseline makes my lips DRY
- Labello is great for the 5 min after applying then dries out (really)
- Anything else that is flavoured or scented cracks and chaps my lips
So I just play it safe. To be honest I don’t know how to put lipstick/lip gloss on… I Kinda have a thick bottom lip and I never stay within the line.
Anyway,I decided that this year would be a year of colour and learning to wear shiny, mattey, colourful lippies, and the first place I wanted to start at was the Body Shop.
I love their products: the body butter and shower gels. I don’t use them often because of my skin flaring up but when I do it’s an amazing experience.
I never knew they sold makeup though, so this was a surprise. They have quite a wide range of lippies, from lip glosses’ (that sparkle), to matte and bright lipsticks.
Based on my girls’ purchase and recommendation I decided to get the Matte Lip Liquid lipstick and I got the Mauritius shade, which leaves a purpley brown after look.
Review:
Matte lippies feel weird, I feel like they make your lips dry and crackly. So I always put a base (Zambuc, Lipsano, Carmex) then apply the matte lipstick.
I have noticed that matte lippies do last longer than your normal lipstick or lip gloss.
The price was really good. I got mine on sale for R72 but the normal price R90 which is still a REALLY good price for matte lipstick.
All in all, I love it, I think it was a great start for me. I didn’t want to break the bank with something that might not work or that I might not like. Now I can slowly work my way to your big brands.
I give this product 4 lips out of 5. Purely because it’s my first time and I will do another review with this product where I compare it to other brands.
Thanks for reviewing with me.
See you at the next blog.
Xoxo 💋
